However it is not enough to just understand the laws of nature. You need to know how to enliven them. In the case of the tree, learning about it won't help it to grow neither will putting a few drops of water on each leaf. You need to water the root. To create health we need to understand the fundamental laws of nature influencing us and we also need to water our roots to nourish the source of our physiology where we can experience our self as whole.

Every year about 98% of our cells are replaced. A year from now the majority of our cells will be different but we will still look the same, we will still feel the same. What is it that provides this continuity? It is the DNA. The DNA can be thought of as a blue print or set of instructions for how the physiology will behave. The physical substance of the body is continually created and destroyed but the memory of how to behave is maintained.

This is true for all of nature. When we stare at a waterfall we see the same pattern repeated over and over again but the drops of water are constantly turning over. Trees loose their leaves but every year they create more and look the same as they did the year before. Nature is in a state of constant flux and growth yet there are fundamental laws of nature governing the symphony of creation that never change. Plant a tomato seed and you will grow a tomato, unless it is genetically engineered and then you might grow a fish.

These patterns of intelligence or laws of nature come from the source which is called Pure Consciousness. Pure because it is unmanifest. It is at an even more subtle level than the DNA. Quantum Physics identifies this source as the Unified Field, the point at which all the laws of nature can be unified. Contained within this field is the instructions for how the whole of creation will unfold. Everything comes from this source. At this level we are all connected. Shock Horror! Does that mean that I am connected to the obnoxious next-door neighbours? Yes it does and when we experience this awareness not just as an intellectual concept, that is when we begin to act in a truly healthy manner. Imagine if we all walked around with the awareness that we are all one and that the environment is just another aspect of our self.

When this awareness is enlivened, the body begins to function better. The homeostatic feedback loops keeping the body in balance are reminded of what to do. Experiencing wholeness is the first step in the healing process as it is the forgetting that is the root cause of all disease. Cancer is a classic example of forgetting or losing connection with the source. Cancer cells, forget that they are part of a greater whole, reproduce prolifically and destroy the body. They cease their role in the body's proper functioning and create a mutinous rampage eventually destroying their very life force. Sounds uncannily like what we are doing to our planet. What is true in the microcosm is true in the macrocosm and vica versa. To eliminate disease, the experience of wholeness must be re-enlivened in the physiology, and then it will begin to act as a whole again. All the branches of Maharishi Vedic Approach Health work to raise the level of consciousness of the individual and thus promote the experience of unity.

There are governing principles which can be seen repeated throughout the universe. They emerge from the abstract level of the Unifed Field but they can be found in every aspect of the manifest world. For example, the structure that exists in the cosmos in the form of the planets has its correlate in the human brain and also in every cell. This explains the influence of the zodiac. However, we need not think of it as being manipulated by some far off stars, the planets are just another illustration of a law of nature that is also present in our bodies.
